Top 5 things I learned at Instagram
1. Know who your audience is.
What is the language they’re familiar with?
How are they feeling when interacting with your product?
How would you best communicate with these types of people?
2. Understand the user flow as a whole.
Is the overall sequence of events making sense?
Does every piece of existing content serve a role in the bigger picture?
What information needs to be given at what point in the flow?
3. Think of the simplest ways to communicate what you need.
Are words necessary to reach the goal of the user?
Can we use design changes instead of using words?
4. Establish the tone and voice.
What tone are you going to be using to best convey your message?
Are you speaking in line with your brand voice?
5. Trust your intuition
At the end of the day, we’re all content designers because we know our user best. We have the empathy, writing skills, product knowledge, and intuition to execute content for our products so trust yourself!
